MOUNT CARMEL - What has now become an annual concert by the popular band the Mahoney Brothers is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Mount Carmel Area (MCA) High School auditorium.
Organized by Joe Cesari, of Kulpmont, the concert, with a theme of "Jukebox Heroes Live," will benefit the MCA senior class in paying for graduation expenses. Tickets are now on sale from any senior.
A pasta dinner with all the trimmings, including salad, drinks and dessert, will be held before the show from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the high school cafeteria, sponsored by the MCA band boosters. Doors for the show open at 5:30 p.m.
The Mahoney Brothers have been a hit with previous performances at Mount Carmel which benefited the building of the playground at the Terry-Miriello field in Kulpmont.
Currently the band is on tour, playing their concert of 1950s and '60s music, and recently preforming in Finland.
Building on 10 years as one of the premier Beatles tribute acts in the world, the Mahoney Brothers decided to expand their musical impersonation act to include many of their favorite early rock 'n' roll influences. The result of that is "Jukebox Heroes Live," what the band calls the "World's Greatest Music Impersonation Show." The Mahoney Brothers pay tribute to such artists as Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, The Beach Boys, Rick Nelson, The Everly Brothers, Neil Presley, Willie Nelson and The Bee Gees are among those whose songs are performed.
The Mahoney Brothers recently updated the production with a three-video screen multi-media presentation, that, teamed with the brothers' impersonations, transports the audience through more than half a century of music in 90 minutes.
