MOUNT CARMEL - Town park will once again be the location for the American Cancer Society Bark For Life, set for Sunday, rain or shine.

The fundraiser honors the lifelong contributions of canine caregivers, who demonstrate unconditional love, joy, security and compassion of cancer survivors' abilities or appearances.

Event chairwoman Charmaine Ryan said there are a considerable number of new vendors, 30-plus in all, thanks to co-chairwoman Laura Davis and others who helped organize the event. Vendors consist of a variety of products from pet treats and pet gear, photography, flowers, food and more.

Several animal rescue/shelter organizations will also be present in case someone is looking to give a "forever home" to a dog.

Vendors will be available beginning at 11 a.m.; registration begins at noon. Each $10 registration fee per dog will include a Bark for Life bandana.

At 1 p.m., dogs and their owners can participate in "K-9 Nose Work," followed by the blessing, the walk and doggie games. Music this year will once again be generously provided by To-Shea Sound! DJ services of Frackville.

Mount Carmel Relay for Life teams will be offering food and beverages, raffles and luminary sales.

For more information, contact Ryan at 339-4532 or Davis at 205-7567 or visit relayforlife.org and enter 17851 in the search.

This year's Mount Carmel Relay for Life is set for 1 p.m. to 1 p.m. June 22 to 23 at town park.
