Bridge replacement planned
LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A PennDOT crew will begin a bridge replacement project on Route 4022 (Boyles Run Road) Monday, Aug. 19.
The existing 28-foot-long bridge was built in 1934 and carries Boyles Run Road over Boile Run, between the intersections with Mountain Road and Johnson Road. This work will include removing the existing bridge, placing a new precast concrete box culvert, pouring new curbs, upgrading guiderail and paving the box and both roadway approaches.
While the work is under way, the road will be closed and traffic detoured to Crissinger Hill Road, Ridge Road and Valley Road. The new bridge is scheduled to be open to traffic by the end of September.

ATLAS - The Mount Carmel Township Food Pantry will have its monthly distribution from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the township complex. Residents in Atlas, Diamondtown, Strong, Locust Gap, Connorsville, Dooleyville and Beaverdale who signed up previously are eligible.
