SUNBURY - Dining with Diabetes will hold classes in October.
The classes offer healthy meal planning, cooking demonstrations and hands-on food preparation and tasting, class discussions regarding managing diabetes and new physical activity choices. HbA1c tests will be offered.
In addition to class handouts and test results, participants will also receive an exercise DVD, a resistance band for exercising, Joslin Diabetes Center educational materials, a complete collection of Dining with Diabetes recipes and a Plate Method placemat.
The next class will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. each Wednesday from Oct. 9 to Oct. 30 at the Penn State Extension Northumberland County, 443 Plum Creek Road. A follow up class will be held on Jan. 8.
The cost is free with Medicare or Medicaid, or $40 for an individual and $55 for a family of two people. Scholarship and financial aid funds are available.
