Stations of the Cross scheduled

MOUNT CARMEL - Stations of the Cross at Divine Redeemer Church, Avenue and Poplar Street, will be held at 2 and 7 p.m. each Friday during Lent.

The Stations of the Cross will be followed by confessions.

Road improvement planned

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A PennDOT maintenance crew will close a section of Mile Post Road (Route 4004) to replace a large pipe to improve drainage.

The work will be performed between Elda Street and Riverview Road from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. There will be a red-arrow detour in place using Mile Hill Road (Route 4006) and Mount Pleasant Road. School bus traffic will be accommodated, if feasible.

30,000 toys delivered in 2011

DANVILLE - The 2011 Toys for Tots campaign assisted 4,559 children in a five-county area.

Officials of the Susquehanna Valley Detachment 308 of the Marine Corps League said more then 30,000 items were delivered to children, from infants to teenagers, in time for the Christmas holiday.

Mount Carmel food distribution set

MOUNT CARMEL - The borough food pantry will have its monthly distribution at the Notary Shop, 215 S. Oak St., from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday for those who have already signed up. Participants are asked to bring the bags back with them.

Tax office closed Tuesday

KULPMONT - The Kulpmont Borough tax office will be closed Tuesday and will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15.
