MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants who waived their cases to court or were ordered to appear for plea court June 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time they can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n James L. Neidlinger, 21, of 1538 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, waived to court charges of forgery, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, receiving stolen property and scattering rubbish relating to an April 11 incident at 1321 Scott St., Kulpmont.

Neidlinger was charged by Kulpmont Police Chief Richard Wilson III with stealing five checks from the mailboxes of Kulpmont residents on April 11 and forging the checks in an attempt to cash them at Susquehanna Bank. Police said the checks totaled $283.44.

n Shawn T. Weaver, 28, of 122 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and owning a firearm while being a former convict.

Weaver was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Jason Drumheller in connection with a March 29 burglary at the South Market Street residence of Raymond and Marianne Kornacki. Police reported Weaver, who allegedly broke a window to gain access to the home, is accused of stealing a 9mm pistol, a check, two winning lottery tickets and a jar of change.

n Brian D. Boyle, 29, of Middleburg, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on probation for 12 months. Additional charges of possession of morphine and misbranding a controlled substance were withdrawn.

The charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow in connection with a March 2 incident at 1020 West Valley Ave., Paxinos.

n Kenneth A. Latshaw, 37, of 709 E. Dewart St., Shamokin, was held for court on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension, careless driving and failure to drive in a single lane after failing to appear for his preliminary hearing.

Latshaw was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Patrick McAndrew in connection with a Dec. 16 incident on Brennan's Farm Road.

n Sean R. Baker, 25, of 18 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, waived to court a charge of retail theft.

Baker was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matt Dillman with stealing a corn remover valued at $2.75 from the Dollar General store on South Market Street on March 11.
