MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants who waived their cases or were held for court were ordered to appear for plea court June 25 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, at which time they can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Pamela Oshowy, 55, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $454. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was withdrawn.

Oshowy was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Matthew Dillman in connection with a Jan. 25 incident at her former apartment on West Third Street.

n Karl P. Short, 30, of 232 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, was held for court on one count of criminal trespass and driving under the influence of alcohol. An additional count of criminal trespass was withdrawn.

Short was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kevin Katch in connection with incidents that occurred April 24 at 334 Chestnut St. and the first block of East Fifth Street.

n David C. Carper, 23, of 1800 Hosta Road, Paxinos, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and a lighting violation involving a Jan. 15 traffic stop along Route 61 at Atlas.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell.

n David A. Demarco, 22, of 429 W. Second St., Mount Carmel, waived to court charges of criminal conspiracy, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and corruption of minors.

The charges filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell relate to a March 17 incident near the intersection of Routes 2034 and 54.

n Benjamin J. McDonald, 46, of 497 W. Saylor St., Atlas, waived to court charges of false alarms to public safety agencies, possessing instruments of crime, recklessly endangering another person and false reports to police involving Sept. 8 incidents at his residence while he allegedly was under the influence of bath salts.

The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski.

n Thomas M. Weaver, 65, of 16 Mountain Road, Shamokin, waived to court two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving relating to a Feb. 5 accident on Mountain Road behind Clark's Feed Mills in Weigh Scales.

The charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow.

n James Richford, 63, of 411 N. Washington St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by unlawful taking and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totaling $902.85. An additional count of theft by unlawful taking and charges of receiving stolen property, two counts of simple assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle and driving without a license were withdrawn.

Richford was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski with assaulting George J. Zanella and stealing his van in Locust Gap on Aug. 20.
