COAL TOWNSHIP - Authorities are still searching for the suspect in an alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old.

Coal Township Police Det. Jeffrey Brennan released a photo Friday of Shaine Wyland, 34, of 692 Bear

Valley Ave., Coal Township, against whom police filed charges Thursday. Charges include felony counts of statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor and aggravated indecent assault of a child, and a misdemeanor charge of corruption of minors.

Brennan was expecting to take Wyland into custody Thursday, but the suspect could not be located.

"We are still on the lookout for him," Brennan said Friday.

According to a criminal complaint, Brennan received a call on April 24 from Northumberland County Children and Youth Services casework supervisor Diana Stine, informing him of the incident, which occurred in a mountainous area known as "the PennDOT," three miles southeast of Burnside.

The victim, who knew Wyland, told police in an April 25 interview she had consensual sexual intercourse with him only once.

Statutory sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor each carry a maximum penalty of 20 years imprisonment and or a $25,000 fine. Aggravated indecent assault carries a maximum penalty of 10 years incarceration and or a $25,000 fine. The maximum penalty for corruption of minors is 5 years imprisonment and or a $10,000 fine.

If convicted of all counts, Wyland could face 55 years in prison and $85,000 in fines.
