ELYSBURG - The Save the Ambulance Cookbook Committee, working to raise funds for the Elysburg Fire Company MICU, has announced its cookbook should be available by the end of August, just in time for the All Home Days Celebration in Elysburg Sept. 1 to 4.
Originally, the book was going to sell for $12 to $15 but due to the overwhelming amount of recipes, more than 750 of them, the cost will be $18 each. The increase is due to the printing costs for a larger book. However, the committee is offering those who may want cookbooks an opportunity to purchase them at the original $15 price. For those who may need them shipped, there is a $4.95 shipping and handling fee per book. Books must be prepaid to qualify for the special pricing.
Checks can be made payable to the Elysburg Fire Company and sent to P.O. Box 288, Elysburg 17824, attention Cookbook Fund. Enclose name, phone number and the number of books. Shipping costs are $4.95 per book; don't forget to include the address. For those wishing to ship and pick up books, note the quantity for each. A phone number is required in case there is a question with the order.
All orders postmarked by Aug. 23 will be accepted. The cookbooks will be available for pick up at the All Home Days Celebration at the Elysburg Fire Company/MICU stand and at local businesses that will be named a later date.
The cookbook is full of classic recipes from generations long ago, tasty ethnic dishes popular in this region, some gluten-free favorites, new creations that are sure to become family favorites and foods from Superbowl champion and New York Giants fullback Henry Hynoski. Hynoski and his family were supportive of the project and have filled the cookbook with a variety of the dishes Hynoski loved growing up.
